I earned a PhD in Counseling Psychology from New York University and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in Clinical Psychology. I have nearly a decade of experience working with individuals and couples navigating a wide array of life experiences and transitions. Having worked in college counseling centers, hospital systems, psycho-oncology clinics, inpatient units, and emergency rooms, I am confident that whatever issue(s) you are striving to make changes about - I can help.
I draw from a wide variety of therapeutic approaches. I am a certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and have received training in Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy For Couples (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). I complement these approaches with mindfulness skills and personalized interventions.
I have also worked for several years in a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Clinic and am comfortable borrowing from Internal Family Systems (IFS) (also known as “parts work”) to help people move through and digest psychedelic experiences folks may have had outside of session (e.g., MDMA, LSD, Ketamine, Magic Mushrooms). These experiences can bring up intense reactions (both positive and negative)and I’m happy to provide an environment in which learning and curiosity can prevail over stigma or judgment.
Central to my training, professional development, and approach is paying attention to a person’s context. What this means is fostering an interest/awareness in the ways identity impact your experience and others’ experience of you. I pay attention to how race, sexual orientation, gender identity, culture, religion, ability status, socioeconomic status, nation of origin, and age may be intersecting with or helping to shape the things you’re looking to change. I have held many leadership positions as they relate to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and cultural humility and this lens is a core value of my professional approach to human development and wellness.
Outside of my work, I’m someone who is passionate about nature (all but 1-2 of the photos on this website are personal photos from my travels) as well as animals. I also spend a good deal of time with my dog in Prospect Park and play tennis every week. While I can’t promise I’ll answer all questions a prospective patient question has about me (as the focus of our time together should be on you and our relationship in the therapy room), most people would describe me as open and transparent.
Reading this much about a potential provider is a major step towards initiating healing, and speaks to your motivation for change. If you're interested in scheduling a meeting with me, you can use the scheduling function on this website. It's not a commitment to long-term treatment, just an opportunity for you to gather more information and for us to learn if we feel potential in our connection.
